Scallops with Butter Lemon and Caper Sauce


  • 1 pound fresh sea scallops
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley


  1. Pat the scallops dry and season with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of butter and olive oil over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the scallops and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the remaining butter and sauté the garlic until fragrant.
  5. Pour in the broth and lemon juice, then bring to a simmer.
  6. Stir in the capers and cook for another minute.
  7. Return the scallops to the skillet and heat through.
  8. Sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.


Serve these succulent scallops with a side of steamed vegetables or a light salad for a complete meal.
