Black Forest Chiffon Cake Recipe

- 1 3/4 cups cake flour
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 7 large eggs, separated
- 3/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 cup cherry pie filling
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons confectioners’ sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 325°F and prepare a tube pan.
- In a large bowl, sift together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Make a well in the center and add oil, egg yolks, water, and vanilla. Mix until smooth.
- In another bowl, beat egg whites and cream of tartar until stiff peaks form.
- Gently fold the egg white mixture into the batter until fully combined.
- Pour batter into the pan and bake for 55-60 minutes.
- Once cooled, slice the cake horizontally into three layers.
- Whip the cream, confectioners’ sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
- Place one layer of cake on a serving plate, spread cherry filling, then whipped cream. Repeat with the remaining layers.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings.
