Ingredients
-
2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
-
1 teaspoon baking soda
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
-
¾ cup granulated sugar
-
¾ cup packed brown sugar
-
2 large eggs
-
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
-
Gel food coloring (pastel pink, purple, yellow, and blue)
-
2 cups chocolate chips
-
Instructions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Combine dry ingredients by whisking flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
-
Cream butter and sugars until fluffy, then add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each. Stir in vanilla extract.
-
Mix wet and dry ingredients until just combined.
-
Divide the dough into four portions and color each with pastel gel food coloring.
-
Gently swirl the colors together and shape into cookie dough balls.
-
Place on the baking sheet, flatten slightly, and top with extra chocolate chips.
-
Bake for 10-12 minutes until the edges are golden. Let cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
-
Notes
-
For thicker cookies, chill the dough for 30 minutes before baking.
-
To prevent excessive color mixing, fold the colors together gently rather than over-mixing.
-
Customize your cookies with white chocolate chips, Easter sprinkles, or a light drizzle of icing.
